FAQs
Yes. We recommend keeping AIM and your endpoints on the latest compatible software and firmware respectively to benefit from current security updates, usability improvements, management features and bug fixes.
Check that all endpoints are also running the recommended compatible firmware . Older endpoint firmware may cause inconsistent on-screen displays and other minor issues.
Upgrade your endpoints to the recommended firmware, then upgrade AIM to the latest supported release. Always check the current compatibility guidance for the correct versions and upgrade sequence.
If operational requirements prevent you from moving away from AIM 5.x, upgrade to the latest supported maintenance release in the 5.x family. Your endpoints should also be upgraded to the recommended compatible firmware.
A supported compatibility configuration may allow you to upgrade in stages. Use this only when existing endpoint firmware or operational constraints prevent a standard upgrade, and plan to move the complete system to the latest supported configuration when possible.
Older endpoint firmware does not have the latest security updates and may also have inconsistent on-screen displays, minor bugs and compatibility issues. Keeping endpoint firmware and AIM aligned provides a more reliable experience.
Contact technical support with your current AIM software and endpoint firmware versions, hardware details and any operational constraints. They can confirm the appropriate upgrade path.
