Disney's FROZEN® The Musical

As one of the most popular animated films of the last decade, it is no surprise that Disney’s FROZEN® has been adapted into an on-stage musical. Debuting on Broadway in Spring 2018, the show has now travelled across the pond – opening in London’s West End in September 2021.

Featuring stunning video design by Finn Ross, and real-time generative content to provide the auroras and magical effects, the show really is destined to be a hit. Ross collaborated with long term partner Jonathon Lyle of Ammonite to provide the technical solutions for the project, and Blue-I Theatre Technology Ltd were appointed as the hardware provider.

Supporting applications such as musicals, festivals, large scale conferences and national award ceremonies, Blue-I’s key services include set design and build, projection, lighting design, sound expertise, and more. Blue-I’s work has featured at industry events such as The Olivier Awards and the Frankfurt Motor Show to name but a few.

Adder’s solutions have been at the core of Ammonite and Blue-I’s workflows for many years. Firstly, using the CATx range, and then upgrading to the ADDERLink™ INFINITY system over a decade ago. Adder worked closely with Ammonite, Blue-I, and the technical sales team of its UK partner, DigiBox, to design a resilient solution that supported users throughout the theatre. By combining the ADDERLink™ INFINITY range with wireless roaming laptops, the production’s engineers have the flexibility to manage multiple resources from different locations throughout the theatre. The ADDERLink INFINITY Manager (AIM) turns a complex system into a simple one, allowing the team to minimize hardware and ensure that everything is accessible and configured from a centralized location. At its peak, the system incorporates 17 x ALIF1002 receivers, 20 x ALIF1002 transmitters, and an ADDERLink INFINITY Dual 2112T VNC interface, which are all running at 1080p simultaneously. The system is centralized around a main and back-up AIM, with RED power supplies providing tidy rack solutions and additional layers of redundancy.
