Adder Heightens Connectivity and Security for Turkmenistan TV Tower
One of Asia’s largest broadcasting stations, Turkmen TV, is using Adder Technology, including its renowned AdderLink Infinity, to connect control rooms and studios in its newly opened Turkmenistan TV Tower.
Adder, the digital keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) specialist, supplied 24 AdderLink Infinity networks for the $450m station, via its partnership with Turkey-based regional distributor, Radikal Elektronik. This enabled Turkmen TV to create a flexible infrastructure through the extension of DVI, USB, RS232 and audio across an IP network. 520 AdderLink X2 multi-screen extenders and 132 AdderView Matrix series KVM switches were also ordered by Turkish systems integrator, Policom, a subsidiary of Polimeks, the leading construction company that built the TV Tower.
Turkmen TV is a state broadcaster in Turkmenistan, where security is a key concern, and the Adder solutions allow it to keep valuable and sensitive broadcasting equipment in a safe and controlled environment, providing staff with ready access to computers and servers.
The 700ft TV Tower, which overlooks the Turkmen capital Ashgabat, boasts four SD and two HD television channels, 13 studios, an OB fleet and transmission facilities. It has also offices and a revolving restaurant in the shape of the Turkmen national emblem – an octagonal star.
“As one of the most vital parts of the technology chain, KVM extenders and switches have to be reliable, which is one of the many reasons Adder was chosen for this project,” explains Sarp Yelkencioglu, managing director of Radikal. “Adder’s KVM extenders are what I would call ‘behind the scenes heroes’. You can’t see them being used, but they are there in the background and keep everything running smoothly.”
“The use of Adder solutions for this prestigious project in Central Asia is a fantastic success story for UK manufacturing and engineering,” says Adrian Dickens, founder and managing director of Adder. “Our range of KVM extenders, particularly the AdderLink Infinity, are ideally suited to the broadcast industry as they offer a real-time, robust and reliable interface with computers, wherever the user needs to access them. This means hot and noisy hardware can be securely stored well away from sensitive recording environments.”
