CAMBRIDGE, UK, 1 May 2012: The European Parliament is using a range of extenders from Adder Technology, the experts in connectivity, to power exhibitions at its new visitor centre, Parlamentarium, in Brussels, Belgium.
In an exhibition space it is important to keep machinery away from public areas for security, longevity, noise and maintenance purposes. Interface, or KVM extension technologies are used to achieve this, and the solutions chosen by the European Parliament included well over 100 AdderLink X200 extenders together with many AdderLink X-USB and X-USB Pro extenders.
The AdderLink X-USB PRO is the next generation USB, video and audio extender, delivering industry-leading video clarity, compatibility and high rack densities, offering the best quality video and audio at distances up to 300m over a single CATx cable.
The AdderLink X200 extends the keyboard, video, audio and mouse control of two computers using a CAT5 or higher UTP cable, up to a distance of 300m, ensuring real-time performance along with hi-definition, hi-resolution video over a VGA interface.
Exhibits utilising Adder connectivity solutions include a vast space titled ‘United in Diversity’, where visitors can use one of 12 mobile displays to explore a 690m2 interactive map of Europe
The solutions were chosen for the Parlamentarium by international audio-visual systems integration company, Electrosonic, which won the contract to install hardware for the interactive exhibits following a Europe-wide competitive tender. An estimated 120,000 visitors have so far discovered the history of the parliament and the European Union through state of the art exhibitions in 23 languages.
“Adder was an obvious choice when it came to selecting the KVM extenders for the project” said Anders Hall, Commercial Manager of Electrosonic. “We have used Adder on previous projects and have found their solutions to be highly reliable and cost effective. They met all our connectivity needs in the interactive displays at the European Parliament”.
“It is great to see high-quality British manufacturing used in such a prestigious European project,” says Adrian Dickens, founder and Managing Director of Adder. “The AdderLink range offers professional quality, reference grade video performance alongside real-time peripheral data transmission, making it ideal for the busy, highly interactive exhibits of the Parlamentarium.
AdderLink solutions can be used in any situation where there is a need for KVM extension, switching or matrices, whether that is in a museum, an air traffic control tower or a broadcast studio.”
