Adder: Proud Sponsors of the 39th Cambridge Film Festival

This year marks the 39th year of the Cambridge Film Festival and we are excited to announce that Adder is sponsoring the Restoration and Rediscoveries strand of the program for the 3rd year running!

The Restoration and Rediscoveries strand showcases a carefully curated collection of films and musicals that have been restored using cutting edge technology. Neil Brand, award-winning composer, will open the show on Friday 18th October with a personal introduction to the 1952 hit Singin’ In The Rain starring Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds.

Throughout the festival, some of our favorite classics will be enhanced through the beauty of live music. The silent film, Fragment of an Empire (1929), will be accompanied by Stephen Horne and John Sweeney whilst 7th Heaven (1927), carefully restored by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, will be shown with a live accompaniment by Neil Brand.

Don’t worry, if classic film isn’t for you, there is plenty more in the festival program that might pique your interest. Modern day releases include Official Secrets (2019) starring Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes and Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

This year the festival is providing fun for the whole family - kicking off on Saturday with Greg Tiernan & Conrad Vernon’s animated comedy, The Addams Family (2019). Starring Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz and Finn Wolfhard, this funny, outlandish and completely iconic film is the perfect start to the weekend and Halloween season!

The Cambridge film festival runs until Thursday 24th October. The Restorations and Rediscoveries strand, sponsored by Adder, runs between 18th-20th October and can be enjoyed in various locations throughout the city, including The Light Cinema, Emmanuel College and The Arts Picturehouse.
