Product description

The high performance ADDERLink XD522 KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) extender enables you to locate your critical computing hardware in a secure and temperature controlled environment away from the user work station whilst maintaining the same user desktop experience. It can transmit either two 1920x1200 @60Hz video streams or one higher resolution video stream (3840x2160 @30Hz or 2560x1600 @60Hz resolutions), digital audio (S/PDIF), analog audio, Hi-Speed USB2.0 and USB2.0 (full and low speed) over CATx cables.

Product specifications part 2

Cable Guidelines

Recommended cables are CAT7 shielded foiled twisted pairs:

Daetwyler 7702 Flexible patch cable

Daetwyler 7120 Bulk cable

Note: Distances are achieved using single lengths of trunk/bulk cable with two 3m CAT7a patch cables. For each additional break/patch connection reduce distance by 5m. Preferably patch cables should be of type CAT7a and less than 2m. Patch cables over 2m must be CAT7a

Computer Access Module (transmitter) for DDX range

Banner image
Product diagram
Product description

Part of the ADDERView® DDX range, the DDX CAM is a Zero U Computer Access Module (CAM) which attaches a source computer to either the DDX10, DDX30 or DDX USR. When connected directly to the DDX USR, it creates a KVM extender. When combined with the DDX10 or DDX30, it forms an integral part of a KVM Matrix. Available in DisplayPort, VGA and DVI variants.

  • Compact and efficient: powered by a single USB connection, it takes up 'Zero U' on your rack
  • Distribution: available with DisplayPort, DVI or VGA ports, and HDMI via a passive converter
  • Easily expand your installation: for each new computer system and user, simply add a USR and CAM module, safeguarding your investment

Standards

VGA, DVI (1920 x1200 @60Hz) and DP video standards

USB 2.0 (HID)

Cable Requirements

A minimum specification of Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cables must be used with the DDX range. Recommended cables are SFTP:

  • Daetwyler 7702 Flexible patch cable
  • Daetwyler 7120 Bulk cable

Unshielded cables are not suitable for the DDX. Distances are achieved using single lengths of SFTP trunk/bulk cable with two 3m SFTP patch cables.
For each additional break/patch connection reduce distance by 5m.
Patch cables must be SFTP.

Environmental

0 to 40ºC / 32 to 104ºF

Connectors – Local Unit

Three types of DDX-CAM modules are available:

DVI-D and USB type A (for all), or DisplayPort and USB or VGA and USB.

Resolutions and cable lengths

The maximum resolutions achievable are:
1920 x 1200 x 60Hz at 200m
1280 x 1024 x 60Hz at 300m.

Power

The CATX DisplayPort CAM uses the USB port to derive its power from the host computer, dispensing with the need for a separate power supply and thus simplifying installation. Therefore the USB cable must always be connected to a USB port on the computer that is capable of providing up to 500mA. Power is not taken from the DisplayPort connector

Mini DisplayPort version available

Some computers, servers and graphics cards (Apple Mac Pro and ATI Radion graphics cards) come with mini DisplayPort connectors as these are smaller than the standard connector. A version of the CAM is available with Mini DisplayPort connectors.

EDID display information

The module will check during power up the EDID information available from the KVM switch or extender that is connected to the monitor and passes this back to the computer.

USB

The CAM supports low speed (1Mb/s) HID USB devices only.

Audio

2 channel CD Quality audio is supported via a 3.5mm jack plug. Audio is not available through the display port connector.
