Cable Guidelines

Important extension distance Information

For resolutions over 1920 x 1080 the recommended cables are CAT7 shielded foiled twisted pairs: Daetwyler 7702 Flexible patch cable / Daetwyler 7120 Bulk cable.

CAT5e (or better) shielded twisted pair cable is recommended for resolutions of 1920 x 1080 and below and must be used to connect the local and remote units in order to maintain compliance with radio frequency energy emission regulations and ensure a suitably high level of immunity to electromagnetic disturbances.

Note: Distances are achieved using single lengths of trunk/bulk cable with two 2m CAT7a patch cables

Product features part 1
  • Extension Distances: flexible resolution versus extension distance options, ranging from 150m (500ft) extension distance for a single 1920 x 1080 screen to 100m (330ft) extension distance for a single 1920 x 1200 screen

  • Transparent USB 2.0 (Low, Full, High Speed): for a whole range of USB devices including keyboards, mice, tablets, touch screens and mass storage devices, connected via the built-in 4-port USB hub

  • Perfect digital video, real time control: uncompressed video extension with every pixel of every frame transferred with zero loss and in real-time

  • Single CATx extension cable; shared by video, USB 2.0, audio and RS232 signals; RS232 can be passed between the units to a maximum baud rate 115K2 via the options port. Adder’s RC4 remote key switch is also supported

  • Plug and Play: straightforward installation with no need for extra drivers or software

Cable Guidelines

Recommended cables are CAT7 shielded foiled twisted pairs:

Daetwyler 7702  Flexible patch cable

Daetwyler 7120  Bulk cable

CAT5 (or better) shielded twisted pair cable must be used to connect the local and remote units in order to maintain compliance with radio frequency energy emission regulations and ensure a suitably high level of immunity to electromagnetic disturbances. Distances are achieved using single lengths of trunk/bulk cable.

For each break/patch connection reduce distance by 5m. Preferably patch cables should be of type  CAT7a and less than 2m. Patch cables over 2m must be CAT7a. The maximum extension distance for USB is 50m including connections to and from the X-DVI PRO DL independent of cable type. If a USB hub is connected to the RX unit, this is seen as 5m of cable length. This needs to be taken into consideration when planning your system.
CAT5e is not recommended for use with this system

Resolution Cable Type Patch Connections Total Distance
2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz CAT7 0 50 meters
2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz CAT6a (shielded) 0 50 meters
2560 x 1600 @ 60Hz CAT5e (shielded) 0 50meters

CAT5 (or better) shielded twisted pair cable must be used to connect the local and remote units in order to maintain compliance with radio frequency energy emission regulations and ensure a suitably high level of immunity to electromagnetic disturbances. Distances are achieved using single lengths of trunk/bulk cable.

For each break/patch connection reduce distance by 5m. Preferably patch cables should be of type  CAT7a and less than 2m. Patch cables over 2m must be CAT7a. The maximum extension distance for USB is 50m including connections to and from the X-DVI PRO independent of cable type. If a USB hub is connected to the RX unit, this is seen as 5m of cable length. This needs to be taken into consideration when planning your system. CAT5e is not recommended for use with this system.

Product features part 1
  • Pixel-perfect digital video with real time control: using uncompressed video extension; no visible artefacts or latency are introduced allowing you to be certain of quality and control
  • Analog audio Stereo CD quality: Stereo channel 16bit sampled at 44.1kHz to transfer audio from local to remote for line out
  • Distribution up to 50m over a single CATx cable: video, USB 2.0 (Low and Full speed) and audio all pass along a single cable, providing up to 50m of extension (distance dependent upon video resolution, CATx cable type, and number of connection intervals)
  • Connect any USB interface device: utilising a unique method of USB communication, the ADDERLink X-DVIPRO extenders deliver the highest possible levels of USB compatibility. All USB 1.1 and 2.0 low/full speed devices are supported.
  • HDMI video and audio extension capabilities: Digital audio for 8 channels of HDMI audio, supported simultaneously to analog audio
Product features part 2
  • Stereo analog audio: Stereo channel 16bit sampled at 44.1kHz to transfer audio from local to remote for line out
  • Power efficiency: transmitter unit can be powered solely from the host computer’s USB connection
  • EDID management: Extended Display Deification Data (EDID) enables the remote system to exactly mirror the date coming from the source monitor
  • Plug and Play: ADDERLink X-DVI PRO extenders are delivered in a zero config state so they work as soon as they are connected, without the need for drivers or software
  • Robust yet lightweight: small form factor, rack mountable device
