HBOS plc, a renowned financial institution, has one of the largest financial data centers in Europe. The management and security of this data center presents a big challenge. Fortunately, HBOS had already made a large investment in standalone Adder KVM switches previously, however, the challenge now was to enhance the deployment that HBOS already had without introducing risks associated with rebuilding the entire infrastructure. Furthermore, with demands from internal security teams, the bank had to reduce the physical access to the computer suites.

The high performance IP KVM solution has enabled HBOS to leverage remote management functions and greatly reduce physical access to the servers. In fact, the company estimates that over 25,000 hits (or log-ins) to the KVM over IP system have replaced what would have been 25,000 physical visits to the computer rooms. HBOS plans to continue its partnership with Adder as it grows. The institution estimates that it will have approximately 20,000 servers by the year 2008.
